NUTRITION TO NEW MOMS!

Keeping in mind the importance of nutrition in women for better maternal health, IHHN has launched a Nutrition Initiative for new mothers to ensure optimum health and well-being during and after pregnancy, enabling them to take care of their newborns and families.
Pakistan has one of the highest infant and maternal mortality rates in the world.

In Pakistan, maternal nutrition indicators are poor, with women facing a triple burden of malnutrition: undernutrition, overweight/obesity, and micronutrient deficiencies.

How does our Nutrition Initiative for New Mothers Work?

The ‘NourishMom’ Nutrition Program at IHHN ensures mothers and babies get both medical and nutritional support. Families will receive monthly Ration Bags for 12 months. For the first 6 months, pregnant women will receive them to ensure proper nutrition until delivery. After childbirth, they’ll receive Ration Bags for 6 more months to support breastfeeding and prevent infant malnutrition.
Tackling malnutrition in new mothers and babies in Pakistan is a complex and long-term endeavor. It requires a sustained effort from multiple stakeholders to bring about meaningful change and improve the nutritional outcomes for women and children in the country.
IHHN has already taken a step forward to ensure that mothers and babies of Pakistan are taken care of. Join hands with us so we can help the women in need!
